Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Nathan Dutton writing down accident information following a SUV roll-over accident Tuesday, April 17, 2012, near 929 Foreman Road in Austinburg. The female driver was ejected from the vehicle as it flipped over several times in a plowed field. She was transported to the Ashtabula County Medical Center by the Austinburg Fire Department.
The next day, another accident occurred. As pictured in the slideshow below, El Grande Steak House owner Roger Del Prince stands inside his heavily damaged business following a two-vehicle accident Wednesday, April 18, on West Prospect Road in Saybrook Township. A woman drove her white Jeep Liberty east on West Prospect when she allegedly fell asleep, traveled left of center and struck a west-bound silver Jeep. The Jeep Liberty lost its left front wheel and swerved sharply north crashing into the El Grande Steak House. The restaurant was not open.
” The crashed would have killed four or five people if we were open,” Del Prince said. “Thank God no one was in the building.”
” I told the State that the road was too close to the restaurant,” Del Prince said.
One male and one female were transported to the Ashtabula County Medical Center on Lake Avenue in Ashtabula. One driver was freed by non-mechanical means Lt. Sutton said.
“You should see the inside,” Linda DiCamillo said.
The photograph of Del Prince’s beloved sister Patty Del Prince Cooper, left, escaped unscathed.
On that same Wednesday in the evening, a motorcyclist was injured when a Ford Escape pulled out of a plaza on North Ridge Road near Great Lakes Auto in Ashtabula Township. The Harley-Davidson motorcycle and driver hit a second vehicle after contact with the SUV. The motorcyclist was transported to the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
