About Lakeshore Artists
The Lakeshore Artists were founded as the Professional Artists of Ashtabula County in November 1973. Membership was expanded when amateur artists, students and appreciators of visual art were invited to join the organization. The change in membership was reflected in the association’s new name; Lakeshore Artists of Ashtabula County.
The club’s mission is to encourage the visual arts in northeast Ohio through education, exhibits and participation in civic events in the area.
In coordination with the Arts Center Executive Director Meeghan Humphrey and Visual Arts Coordinator Linda Merchant, Lakeshore Artists members sponsor an annual show and sale each year in May.
The Arts Center also serves as host for the Lakeshore Artists’ Wednesday morning painting group and the club’s monthly meeting. The Arts Center’s generous gift of hospitality is an essential component to the Lakeshore Artists success.
Lakeshore Artists meet the second Friday of each month at the AAC. There are no meetings planned for the months of January and February. Individuals interested in the visual arts or becoming a member can contact Lakeshore Artists President Harry Schwentker at (440) 964-2898 or Secretary Christine Vandervort at (440) 997-8865. Membership dues are $22 a year. For more information about the Ashtabula Arts Center call (440) 964-3396. Their website: ashtabulaartscenter.org.
