AUSTINBURG_Award-winning artist E. Janie Altrogge has continued producing fantastic art as she battles major health issues during her extended stay at the Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Austinburg.
Janie has created art using a variety of media. She has expressed herself through pottery, clay, colored pencil, watercolors, oil paints, acrylics and most recently needle felted sculptures.
Janie is a long-time of the Lakeshore Artists group and has been a mentor to many members. Janie’s needle-felt sculpture of a fawn earned “best of show” honors during the Lakeshore Artists’ exhibit at the Ashtabula Arts Center; her paintings earned recognition at the Lakeshore Artists’ exhibit during the Geneva Grape Jamboree.

“Being an artist can be so isolating. I don’t care about how you think you know, you’re going to learn something from someone because they observe from a different point of view. All artists need each other. We need to be a community.”
