JEFFERSON_John P. McEndree, 48, of Ashtabula, was arraigned on two murder charges Monday in Ashtabula County Common Pleas Court before magistrate John Lewis. McEndree plead not guilty to the charges. Court-appointed defense attorney Ariana Tarighati asked for a lower bond, but Lewis continued McEndree’s bond at $ 1.2 million with the 10 percent surety bond in place.
McEndree is charged with stabbing his wife Deborah McEndree, 48, to death May 12 in their Allen Street home. The Ashtabula County Coroner’s Office stated that Deborah was stabbed twice in the chest and once in the neck. The McEndree’s daughter reported the crime to Ashtabula Police after finding her mother unresponsive and her father struggling to breathe. J. McEndree had slashed his wrist in an apparent suicide attempt.
The case has been assigned to Common Pleas Judge Thomas Harris.
